RAW London Wins Silver at STRAIGHT 8 Shootout 2026

STRAIGHT 8 is one of the industry's most exhilarating creative challenges.
Each team must create an entire short film entirely in-camera - on a single cartridge of Super 8 film. There are no retakes, no editing, no colour grading, no visual effects, and no post-production. Every shot has to be captured in sequence, with the soundtrack created separately and only married to the film once it's developed.
This year, we wanted to push the format further than we'd seen before - and won the Silver Award for our short film, Party Wall.

Party Wall uses split screen to simulate post-production editing, all in-camera. Two neighbours. One wall. A soundtrack neither of them can ignore. The thinnest walls sometimes connect the most unlikely people.
The result is a film that embraces the restrictions of STRAIGHT 8, exploring what's possible when you lean into the limitations.
"Party Wall is a story about two neighbouring lives unfolding simultaneously. To tell it, we created the illusion of a split screen entirely in-camera - an effect that would almost always be achieved in post-production. With no opportunity to edit or correct anything later, all the crew had to be really switched on! As much of a headache as it was technically - it was really fun conjuring up concepts that really used the super8 format in an interesting way. I've always been blown away by past straight8 entries, so it's great to be part of that collective."
The films premiered in Cannes on 26 June, as competing teams watched their finished films for the very first time alongside fellow filmmakers and creatives. Winners were then announced at a screening at the Prince Charles Cinema in London on 30 June.
We're incredibly proud that Party Wall was recognised amongst an outstanding field of agencies, production companies and creative studios. Congratulations to DEPT Agency for taking Gold with Love You To Death, and to Siren Music for Bronze with Cat Cracks The Case.
