Hiring: Freelance Story Producer

We're partnering with a charity client in the third year of an ongoing national campaign spanning TV, digital, print and radio. As part of the campaign in 2026, we are creating a digital content series centred around authentic, real-life conversations and personal experiences.

We’re looking for an experienced Story Producer to oversee story development and capture for this series. This role is ideal for someone who is confident working with real contributors, has great storytelling instincts and understands how to leverage story to furnish digital collateral according to campaign strategy, themes and pillars.

Role Description

  • Curate and identify compelling storylines, emotional movements, key themes that align with the campaigns overall creative strategy.

  • Develop interview approaches, shooting scripts, and conversation frameworks based on the creative brief.

  • Work closely with contributors in the lead up to filming and during shoot days, ensuring they feel comfortable and properly briefed throughout the process.

  • Live story produce on set, helping guide interviews and conversations to make sure key themes, emotional moments and authentic stories are captured naturally, with the edit in mind. 

  • Collaborate closely with the Director and creative team during filming, providing live feedback and helping shape interviews and conversations in real time.

  • Adapt questioning and interview direction based on how conversations naturally develop, identifying stronger or more unexpected narratives as they arise. 

  • Shape how stories and content furnish campaign assets, covering key campaign themes and content pillars.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with real people and documentary-style storytelling across sensitive subject matter. 

  • Strong experience story producing on set, particularly with real people.

  • Confident guiding conversations to naturally explore key themes and emotional moments.

  • Able to think quickly, adapt to conversations as they unfold, and spot strong story opportunities in the moment.

  • Experience developing interview questions and shooting scripts from creative briefs.

  • Good understanding of how content can be leveraged to furnish multiple campaign formats and platforms.

  • Experience working in a client-facing capacity, effectively managing relationships with charity partners and stakeholders.
