Raw London has scored 3 awards in 3 categories at the EVCOM Clarion Awards 2020. The winning projects include campaigns for British Red Cross, Mermaids UK and StreetDoctors, with results announced at a virtual ceremony on Thursday 16 July 2020.

We’re particularly proud of these awards as they celebrate true excellence across cause-driven content, and recognise work that promotes diversity and inclusion, social welfare and educational initiatives.

Our unique case study film, ETHAN for Mermaids UK, won Gold in the Diversity and Inclusion category. Rebuilding Lives, produced as part of British Red Cross’ Refugee Week campaign last year, received Silver for Social Welfare, while #APPLYPRESSURE for StreetDoctors received Bronze in the Health and Wellbeing category. Read more about each campaign and watch the winning videos below. You can also view the full list of winners here.

ETHAN for Mermaids UK: GOLD, Diversity and Inclusion

After winning a £165k media prize from YouTube, Gay Times and Creative Brief in 2018, we partnered with Mermaids to change the way trans stories are presented in the media. Using an arcade game to visualise Ethan’s journey, it takes the viewer through different milestones in his journey and tells a powerful, emotive story. Judges said the film felt “truly personal and bespoke” to Ethan’s story – see if you agree.

Rebuilding Lives for British Red Cross: SILVER, Social Welfare

As part of Refugee Week 2019, we launched this multichannel video campaign to bring on board like-minded supporters who want to help create a positive environment for refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK.

Based on the concept of missing pieces, Rebuilding Lives explores the link between the fragmented lives of refugees and the parts the charity help them rebuild. The film won joint Gold with ITV’s Eat Them To Defeat Them campaign at The Drum Social Purpose Awards 2019, and was shortlisted at the Charity Film Awards 2020.

#APPLYPRESSURE for StreetDoctors: BRONZE, Health and Wellbeing

StreetDoctors’ powerful #APPLYPRESSURE campaign was produced pro bono as part of our CSR initiative to support small charities. We collaborated closely with StreetDoctors and young people affected by street violence to teach simple, lifesaving actions. With a total media spend of just £440 the predominantly Snapchat campaign achieved 1.7 million impressions and 450,000 video views.

The EVCOM Clarion Awards virtual ceremony

Due to the current restrictions, this year’s ceremony was streamed online for the first time ever. It kicked off with a review of last year’s best winners, and we were pleased to see one of our films highlighted as a best-in-show example of cause-driven content.

Reading ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ in the Great Rift Valley, produced for Book Aid International in 2018, won Gold for Brand Communication at the 2019 EVCOM Clarion Awards. Claire Fennelow, EVCOM Executive Director, said; “This category is always highly competitive and this film was up against some really big film companies. Judges said it was a ‘bold, beautiful and ambitious idea, that the filmmakers made happen despite a host of challenges.'”

Thank you to EVCOM for organising such a great event, and a huge thank you to the judges. Congratulations to all the winners and a special thanks to our partners at British Red Cross, StreetDoctors and Mermaids UK for working with us – we hope to celebrate properly with you one day soon!
