Showing you how to live

Marie Curie UKLorrainne's Story

Lorrainne Castellano is a vibrant and inspirational woman affected by peritoneal cancer. She is a passionate burlesque dancer and skilled costume-maker, with a poodle named Miss Betty and an inherent refusal to allow inoperable late stage peritoneal cancer to dictate the quality of her life.

Gold for Health & Well-being Category

Marie Curie wanted to capture the lead up to Lorrainne’s final burlesque performance which she was determined to do despite being told she didn’t have long to live. For Lorrainne, the purpose of this film was to help anyone having to come to terms with a terminal prognosis. It was to be a celebration of life – and in particular the life of an inspirational and vibrant woman who challenges perceptions of how someone affected by terminal illness should live.

We produced this film for Marie Curie‘s Great Daffodil Appeal campaign, as part of an ongoing stream of content to share the stories of people they support. The Great Daffodil Appeal is one of the largest fundraising campaigns in the UK, raising millions of pounds to provide care and support for people living with a terminal illness, and their families.
